Tax Free Weekend

no comments
Posted on Nov 2 2009 by Daniel

If you live in North Carolina, you’ll want to know about the special tax-free weekend on Energy Star rated appliances.  Beginning at 12:01 on Friday, November 6th, 2009, and ending on the 8th, you can purchase items tax-free in store or online, with some rules and regulations.

Qualifying purchases include:

  • (Clothes) Washing machines
  • Freezers and refrigerators
  • Central air conditioners and room air conditioners
  • Air-source heat pumps and geothermal heat pumps
  • Ceiling fans
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Programmable thermostats

So if you’re in the market for something, this is the weekend to buy it.  Rumors of “Cash for Clunkers: Appliances Edition” put that program in early 2010, but you probably know what I think of such offers.  I’ll be picking up a new refrigerator, and basking in the energy savings on top of my tax-free purchase!
